Here are the instructions on how to add the file paths for iHR to the UTL_FILE_DIR parameter. In total, iHR will have 3 directories to be added: One where the iHR Template Files will reside, one where the iHR Processed Files are sent and another one where the Output Text Files will reside (which are the ones that tell you if the upload was successful or not and the results of the upload).
1. At the server, go to Start | All Programs | Oracle | OraHome | Enterprise Manager Console
2. Select Launch Standalone and press OK on the pop-up window.
3. To see the tables in the database, expand the “Databases” option and connect to the ISOtrain database. Enter the Username/Password combination for the SYSDBA user (try using SYS as the username and the password for the ISOtrain user. If this doesn’t work, you will need to talk to your DBA so that he can give you the credentials) and on the ‘Connect as’ option, select SYSDBA.
4. After that, press OK.
5. When the database expands, click on Instance | Configuration. You will see the configuration screen in which there will be a button named All Initialization Parameters…
6. Press the All Initialization Parameters… button and locate at the end the parameter named utl_file_dir. In the ‘Value’ field, enter the file paths that you will use for iHR, each one separated by a comma. For example:
C:\Process\iHRFileDirectory, C:\Process\iHRProcessedDirectory, C:\Process\iHROutputDirectory
7. After entering the values, press the Apply button. It will ask you to restart the database.
8. Choose ‘Immediate’ and press OK.
The reason for this to happen is that maybe the user changed the way the Internet Explorer its managing the menu options.
In this case, the user needs to restore the Windows configuration defaults by going to Internet Options| Advanced| Select Reset Option.
After selecting the Reset Option, the user needs to close Windows Explorer and Re-open.
